Background Story About The Painting
Around the time I bought the painting from Andrew, he described the curious features appearing to grow out of the bodies of some of the figures in the foreground. Fascinatingly he called them ‘viruses’. This to my mind was so significant, as it was just before COVID times .. a virus of an altogether different sort, but uncannily prescient of the times to come and how it changed the world.

About The Artist
Andrew’s subject matter is flexible but leans more to the figurative and representational forms in art. He draws a lot of ideas from historical painting mixed in with his own experiences, adding specific personal thoughts and invented myths to his images.

“Andrew works with metaphor, symbolism and allegory. He draws a lot of his concepts from historical painting combined with his own experiences, as he adds invented myths and narratives to his images. Each painting is individualistic and seeks to communicate a message about its subject to the viewer. His practice plays with the traditional norms of landscape and figurative painting and uses it as a vessel to convey ideas and thoughts, both from direct observation and his own interpretation. Andrew wants to use his paintings in a conceptually abstract and philosophical way, to communicate different ideas through experimentation with composition and the subversion of expectations.”

CONDITIONS OF SALE:-
Current owner will sell on the basis that the owner reserves the right, but not the obligation, to re-purchase the painting within 5 years after the first 12 months of sale (6 yrs total), for an additional £5,000 for each year that passes without re-purchase. The maximum possible price to be paid for repurchase being £25,000 within 6 years from the sale date.

Should the right to repurchase not be exercised within 6 years of the date of sale, then the buyer secures the right to keep the painting with the right of the seller having expired.

The Artist’s Resale Right (ARR) entitles creators of original works of art, and their heirs, to a royalty each time their work is resold on the secondary market, provided the sale price reaches or exceeds £1,000 and involves an auction house or art market professional in the UK. This right was introduced in the UK in 2006, stemming from a European Directive, and generally applies for the lifetime of the artist plus 70 years after their death.
