Art House
Art House (Leeds) organises regular art fayres or markets in and around Leeds called Art House Art Fayre (AHAF) within Leeds Kirkgate Market and Leeds Corn Exchange.
We started in Leeds Kirkgate Market in 2019 when owner and photographer Paul Heaney established a pop-up gallery there on Yorkshire Day next to Mark’s & Spencer’s heritage unit in the inspirational 1857 Hall.
The launch event in March 2019 was attended by the media including press and TV and publicised via Art House and Leeds Kirkgate Market (Leeds City Council) social media platforms.
“It was a wonderful time where I met all sorts of people from all walks of life and of course many artists would swing by to enjoy a chat and tea on a regular basis. Every day was different and I would hear many stories from some amazing local characters.
I realised there was an opportunity to create an art market space on a monthly basis in the covered bottom end of Leeds Kirkgate Market, which took some time to establish successfully. Eventually the frequency became seasonal once our 12 month pop-up gallery term ended.
Now we enjoy capacity numbers at our popular fun events which are a spectacle of colour, diversity and great local art and craft … stimulating for both artists and visitors.”
